What do we mean by the word habit?

Habit means -A settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up.

Pay heed to the last 4 words,”hard to give up”. A habit in general is something that a human being gets use to. Let’s divide habits into 2 categories good habits and bad habits.
From a young age we are always taught, that we should develop good habits. Our parents use to pester us to watch less TV, study more, play outside instead rather than playing more video games, get up early morning, exercise regularly and eat clean, work hard and don’t procrastinate etc etc. these are some basic good habits. Let’s take one example of each habit and go forward from there.
Now if you decide to workout and get fit, we first develop a habit to do so. Once you develop a habit of getting up early and going to the gym, eating clean you start to see results. You see your body getting into shape, you feel good , energetic, happier and stronger. Fitness becomes an addiction and after seeing amazing results this turns into a habit and it’s , “hard to give up”. This is what we call a good habit which benefits you.
Now if you decide to start smoking and you say smoking makes you feel good relieves you from all the stress and tension that’s surrounding you everyday but deep down inside, you know it’s harming you, your lungs are getting damaged, your breathing is being affected, your blood pressure keeps rising and your medical bills also keep rising which gives you more stress and harms you further. This is what we call a bad habit that harms you
Now let me tell you something. You might’ve noticed in both the habits I used the word, “decide”. You decide to get fit or get sick. You decide your habits. In turn your habits decides your future.
Always Remember, “people do not decide their futures they decide their habits and in turn their habits decide their future”.

Let me know in the comments about my writing and if you feel there’s a need for improvement I would appreciate your feedback. Happy reading.
